【My Journey in Cross-sector partnership — A Reflection on my RTHK Interview】 (Part I of II)
Hong Kong, an international city renowned for its bustling economy, has become synonymous with a money-driven lifestyle, often neglecting the importance of broader societal values in long-term development.
Last year, I had the honor of being invited as one of the guests on the show “同行•港溫度”, a collaborative effort between The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) 香港社會服務聯會 (社聯) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). As the co-founder of a social enterprise, I had the opportunity to discuss corporate social responsibility, creating shared values and the significance of fostering a sustainable community. I am truly grateful for this platform, as it allowed me to convey to the audience that running a business involves more than mere monetary pursuits. The development of sustainable communities is crucial to enhancing citizens’ quality of life and ensuring a promising future for society.
This episode not only sheds light on the day-to-day operations of Kaifong Tour and the perspectives shared by various stakeholders but also offers a glimpse into my personal life and emotional journey, which I am sharing on-air for the very first time. Over a span of four months, we engaged in the interview and filming process, sharing the neighborhood stories with the production team, and shooting different indoor and outdoor scenes, all while overcoming the challenge of multiple reschedulings due to the pandemic. This opportunity compelled me to reflect on my past and do some soul-searching, including the moment when I first discovered the concept of a social enterprise during my university years and later the emotional roller coaster ride of being an entrepreneur. There was a time when I found myself in a slump, struggling to find a sense of purpose in everything I pursued. Looking back on all the ups and downs, I am proud of myself and deeply appreciate the daily dedications my team and I have poured into building a better community for our kaifongs.
